Suicide
Many people would be surprised to learn that suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people age 10-24. Suicidal behavior and thoughts are sometimes a result of untreated depression. Not all people who are depressed are suicidal but most people who are suicidal are depressed.
High school can be a time of growth and change. Teens may experience stress from many sources, including relationships with friends and family members and problems at school. A suicidal crisis is usually brief. If you have a friend who is thinking about suicide you can help. When people get help their risk of suicide is greatly reduced.
